This plaque on the wall of the old school – now the Community Centre – reads “GL In Honorem Parentum DDD 1868”. This means, George Lamb gave it as a gift and dedicated it in honour of his parents in 1868. George Lamb was a solicitor in Basingstoke and was a founding partner of the firm Lamb Brooks which is still in practice today – 2006
