Early days on the golf course at Town Meadow. The Golf club was formed in 1974 and shared Town Meadow with Overton Rugby Club which had been playing on a pitch there from 1971. (The owner of the land Colonel Hoare was a rugby man). Golfers in those days will remember that a wayward ball landing on the rugby pitch was often a lost ball because of the churned up ground and mud from previous rugby matches.
