This painting is believed to be by Lady Portal, wife of Brigadier-General Sir Birtram Portal. It shows the cottage by the bridge in Bridge Street in about 1916. Both the painting and the cottage are currently owned by Mr and Mrs Popovic who kindly allowed us to reproduce it on the website.
