A large part of Portals success was due to their ability to produce water marks in their paper, a technique which they invented in 1724. The next 8 pictures are examples of water marks, mostly from Christmas cards sent to employees. This is the one exception, having been done to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953
