Town Mill November 1986. A corn mill on this site was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 and it functioned as such for many years. It was rebuilt by Portals in 1900 and used as a rag house. Some years later it was no longer needed for rag processing and was used by Portals as a store. During World War Two part of the building was used by Airpak, a quilt manufacturer. By the 1980s it had become derelict and, with a new block added, was converted into residential accommodation in 1988.
