This field beside Rotten Hill was once used for horse races during Overton Carnivals. In living memory, it was also used for football by Portals AC. The land slopes inwards from both wings and down hill towards one end. Frank Smith remembers that when out on the wing he stood higher than the goal posts. Another old Overtonian chuckled when he said it was quite a skill to use the side slope and down-hill slope for a long shot at goal. Photo 2006
