1964 – The circular drive is in front of Parsonage Farm, one of the oldest buildings in the village. In the top half of the picture is a large area of watercress beds. When watercress was grown along the River Test at Overton, it was harvested daily in the season and shipped up to London by train. In the 1950’s it became uneconomic and the beds were abandoned. Those above ran all the way through to the mill in Southington Lane.
