During WW2 Bank of England staff were relocated from London to a number of places in the countryside. Overton was one. There was not a lot in the way of evening entertainment so St Luke’s Hall was built in Winchester Street as a social venue. After the war it was presented to the parishioners of Overton in gratitude for their kindness and hospitality. A number of houses were demolished to make way for the hall.
